Operation E.D.I.T.H. Thursday, October 7th, 7:00 p.m.

Operation EDITH is a fire-safety program that seeks to encourage the parents of young children to talk to their kids about the importance of fire safety. The cornerstone of the campaign is Exit Drill In The Home, thus the name "EDITH". The purpose is to educate early elementary school children and their families about the life-saving value of having a fire escape plan from their home.

Trinity Lutheran holding To-Go Lunch Thursday (Today)

The Trinity Lutheran Church will again be hosting their to-go lunches. On Thursday, October 7, 11:00 to 1:00.  This weeks menu is Pulled pork sandwiches, garlic mashed potatoes, cookies & drink. $8.00The church is located at 1002 E 13th St, Vinton. The Drive-Up will take place for the next 8 weeks, through the end of October

Eastern Iowa Honor Flight #41 to launch on October 19

On Tuesday, October 19th, 2021, the Eastern Iowa Honor Flight will launch EIHF Flight # 41 Since we began operations in 2009, to date, we have transported 3,613 Veterans, plus their guardians to Washington, DC to visit the memorials dedicated to their service and sacrifice. While there, they will visit the WWII, Korean, Vietnam memorials, as well as visit Arlington National Cemetery, and other memorials.

Vinton Parks and Rec to hold Fall Festival during the month of October

The 2021 Fall Festival will kick off on October 16 with the first Nathan's Miles Glow Fun Run. Check-in and the starting line begin at Tilford Elementary. To register, click here!Check-in begins at 5:30 p.m. The Kid Race will begin at 6:30 p.m. for ages 11 and younger. The Adults will take off at 7:30 p.m. Food trucks, live music, and a ton of glow stuff!The cost for the race is $25 for adults and Kids are FREE!The week of October 22-30 there will be a Scarecrow Contest where Vinton Businesses will show off their creativity by making scarecrows.

Vision Dysart and the Dysart Development Corporation are pleased to announce the return of the Wine with the Witches Fall Festival on October 14th.Grab your broomsticks and don your most be-witching (or wizzarding) costume and join the Dysart Witches in the flash mob witches dance. 50th Dysart Bazaar & Holiday Market returns November 13 benefit UCSD Scholarship

The non-profit Dysart Development Corporation (DDC) will host the community's fiftieth annual Dysart Bazaar and Holiday Market on Saturday, November 13, 2021. Open to the public at no charge, the event features a wide variety of artists selling their exclusive handmade crafts and homemade baked goods at the handicapped-accessible Dysart, Iowa, Community Building, at 418 Main Street, from 9 a.

GoVS Homecoming Breakfast October 2 7-11:00 a.m.

The GoVS Homecoming Breakfast will be held on Saturday, October 2nd from 7-11:00 a.m. in the High School commons. Tickets are $6 each and will be available for sale at the Homecoming Game. The menu will include: pancakes, scrambled eggs, sausage, biscuits and gravy.GoVs is a local organization that raises money for scholarships for our Vinton-Shellsburg graduating seniors.

Vinton-Shellsburg Homecoming Parade Thursday Night 6:00 p.m.

Come out and support the Vinton-Shellburg kids at the Homecoming Parade which begins tonight at 6:00 p.m. The parade will begin at B Avenue and 4th St. in downtown Vinton. Come out and cheer the kids on!

CP FRIENDS SOCKTOBER IS MASK-TOBER TOO

The Friends of the Center Point Library is again sponsoring "Socktober"-collecting donations of new socks for the sockless. Because of the current covid surge, Friends is also asking for donations of homemade or purchased masks.Friends will give the donated masks and socks to Willis Dady Homeless Services and the Young Parents Network in Cedar Rapids.

Veterans Stand Down Event October 23

The "Stand Down" event will be held on Saturday October 23, at the Belle Plaine Legion Hall located at 1008 12th St. from 8:00 a.m. until noon. Any veteran and their family is welcome to stop in and choose anything that you can use.[SEL]ion includes clothing and personal care items.Veteran's Affairs personnel will be on hand to answer any questions that you might have.
